How a Chanel 2.55 Bag is Done

The iconic Chanel 2.55 handbag was named after the year it was created, on February 1955. It represents the epitome of style with it's famous quilting and chains that have made it a classic & status symbol almost every woman recognizes.

Mademoiselle Chanel designed it with special care and every details from the inside out has a story to tell... She used a running stitch to quilt the bag in a diamond pattern and the exact same chains the caretakers at the orphanage where she grew up used to hold their keys with, as the 2.55 shoulder strap.

The lining's colour representes the brown colour of the uniforms from the convent where she lived as a child. She also introduced pockets into it; the back outside flap where she stashed extra money and a secret pocket inside the front flap, where Coco kept her love letters...

When Karl Lagerfeld took over Chanel in 1983, he respected the main details of Chanel 2.55 bag, which we may say, still remains true to the original design.

Hope you enjoy the pictures by Chanel:
